CO2URIER, ecological courier company

And it happened! On 01.10.2016, the CO2URIER project was launched, the main objective of which is to develop a business model of an ecological courier company, including the offset of carbon dioxide and new pro-ecological services. Quriers, as a company from the courier services sector, together with the Polish partner Pro-Akademia, the German ZEW institute and the Swiss Myclimate organization will try to develop this business model. Project activities include detailed carbon footprint analyzes and empirical field experiments aimed at developing effective tools to increase demand for ecological courier services, while internalizing external costs of all categories of services provided by the company. After testing the effectiveness of the developed business model at Quriers, a plan of system implementation of the developed methodology for the provision of ecological courier services in Poland and Germany will be developed, which may contribute to reducing CO2 emissions by about 500,000 tons per year by 2020.

Innovative courier services
 
At the Poznań POLECO System fair, on October 11, the inaugural conference CO2URIER was held, at which Pro-Academy representatives presented the project at the Polish-German symposium, organized by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and the National Center for Research and Development. The current situation in Europe in terms of greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector and methods for their reduction are presented. An innovative solution for CO2 compensation has been presented which will be developed and implemented in the project and including clients of courier companies. A day later, on October 12, the first meeting of the international consortium implementing the project took place. The meeting was an opportunity to determine the expectations of each of the abovementioned partners towards the project, establish cooperation rules and discuss a detailed action plan in the first period of the project implementation.
